The Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines announced that they will be serving a $3,000 fine for both Omega Esports and Nexplay EVOS after their controversial match this Season 8.

Both teams played in the last leg of the regular season and figured in a showdown with odd strategies and unconventional lineups, the main reason why MPL PH decided to make such move.

MPL PH also added that Omega and NXP showed unprofessionalism while also breaking the rules in their codebook.

According to their codebook, both teams violated 2.1.1.2 Competitive Integrity, and 12.1.5 Professional Manner.

“Although NXPE and OMG have been cooperating with officials to actively investigate, both teams still bear management responsibilities for the issue. Both NXPE and OMG will get a $3000 penalty and a serious warning,” said MPL PH in a statement.

Aside from the $3k fine for both teams, several players in their roster will also receive fines and penalties including popular streamer and vlogger Akosi Dogie.

Dogie, who was seen doing an unsportsmanlike gesture during their post-game against Omega, broke MPL PH’s “12.2.1 Making a prohibited pose” of the codebook.

The violation earned him a $500 fine and a suspension for the next two matches as issued by the MPL PH management.

“We want to reinforce that competitive integrity is one of our core values as a league. Any team or player is subject to the rulebook and guidelines as stipulated within, and they must take full ownership and accountability of what they’ve done,” added MPL PH.
