Kevin Durant might be switching jerseys once the next NBA regular season kicks off later this 2025.

Brian Windhorst, ESPN’s veteran NBA insider, confirmed the news on June 11, 2025, stating that the Phoenix Suns will most likely trade the superstar small forward in the coming weeks.

“This one is a different story. I do believe that Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks. I expect them to look into the Durant trade market pretty soon. There are going to be a handful of teams that have interest in Durant,” said Windhorst.

If this materializes, this will be Durant’s fifth team in his 17-year NBA career, and the third time that he will be dealt in a trade package in the last six seasons.

In March, Durant already got pissed at the Phoenix Suns organization after blindsiding him in several trade talks during the last NBA trade deadline.

On the final day of the NBA trade deadline, the Suns surprisingly put Durant’s name in the market and inquired about valuable assets, including a possible deal with the Golden State Warriors that failed to reach an agreement.

Durant admitted that he wasn’t informed about the ongoing negotiation that would’ve sent him to another franchise last trade deadline, and was also unaware of Phoenix meeting with Golden State.

He also said that he doesn’t want to get traded midway through the season, and coming back to Golden State won’t make any sense because he is still determined to help Phoenix get to the playoffs.

“People talk crazy about me all the time. At the end of the day I just didn’t want to move and I wanted to see it through with my team in Phoenix and see what we could do the rest of this season. I’m glad I’m still there,” Durant told ESPN during an interview.

During that iffy situation, the Suns were still in a position to enter the playoffs and were sitting at the 11th spot of the Western Conference with a 28-33 win-loss record.

However, the squad failed to rekindle their spark and dropped crucial games in their playoff chase, resulting to a disappointing run as the NBA’s most expensive team on the payroll.
