It’s crazy how San Antonio Spurs’ top rookie and no. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama puts up this kind of numbers on a consistent basis in the NBA.

In an inter-conference NBA regular season matchup against the Detroit Pistons last January 11, 2024, the seven-foot-four superstar from France made history after recording the second-fastest triple-double in just 21 minutes of action.

Wembanyama tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists during San Antonio’s lopsided 130-108 victory over the Pistons on the road.

It is still Russell Westbrook who holds the record for the fastest triple-double in NBA history after achieving the feat in just 20 minutes last 2014.

Wembanyama also became the youngest player in the NBA to earn a triple-double stat line without committing a single turnover.

This season, Wembanyama made it into an elite company after joining Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic and Indiana Pacers’ floor general Tyrese Haliburton as the only player to record a triple-double without a turnover.

With his superb performance, Wembanyama steered the Spurs organization to its sixth overall win in the ongoing NBA season.

Wembanyama was everywhere on the court and was causing problems for the Detroit offense as he played a tremendous role in anchoring the San Antonio defense in the paint.

His length, agility, and great read off the screens helped San Antonio jump quickly to a 12-point lead after the first quarter, 31-19.

Despite Detroit’s fightback in the second quarter, Wembanyama and the Spurs started to take over in the second half and didn’t allow the Pistons to win a single quarter.

Wembanyama now extended his streak of double-digit scoring to seven straight games since December 27, 2023, against the Utah Jazz.

San Antonio will look to sustain its momentum on January 13, 2024, as they square off against the Charlotte Hornets in another inter-conference matchup.
