NBTC-Antique elimination round begins

NBTC-Antique’s 12 tough teams will grind it out for the top spot (Richard Gabayoyo)

The National Basketball Training Center Antique leg tournament has begun, with 12 teams vying for a spot in the national qualifiers next year at Ibajay, Aklan.

Libertad National Vocational School (LNVHS), Pandan National Vocational School (PNVS), Mag Aba National High School (MNHS), Sta. Justa National High School (SJNHS), University of Antique Laboratory High School (UA-LHS), and the Barbaza National High School (BNHS) were the schools under bracket A.

In the other bracket, Col. Ruberto Abellon National School (CRANS), Antique Vocational School (AVS), Saint Luke’s Academy (SLA), Saint Agustine’s Academy (SAA), Belison National School (BNS), and the Antique National School (ANS).

In the first round of eliminations, BNHS trounced LNVS, 71-59, ANS downed CRANS, 63-49, UA-LHS crushed MNHS, 86-36, AVS trampled BNS, 81-32, SJNHS dominated PNVS, 80-52, and the SLA got the better of SAA in a tight battle, 54-50.

The next set of eliminations featured CRANS’ drubbing win against BNS, 79-41, UA-LHS racked up their second win against LNVS, 70-56, ANS routed SAA, 78-41, SJNHS nipped BNHS, 58-56, the SLA squad edged the AVS team in the closest game so far, 66-65, and PNVS prevailed over MNHS, 61-51.

Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, the NBTC area head for Western Visayas, said that the tough competition will last up to December 21, 2019.
