Nearly PHP1M Shabu Seized in Pototan Bust

Nearly PHP1 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in an anti-drug operation on the afternoon of March 22 in Pototan, Iloilo.

The sting operation led to the arrest of alias Elsie, 49, of Barangay Purog, and three others from Barangay Barasan identified as alias Marjoun, 51, alias Shayn, 41, and Melvin, 21.

Elsie, a food vendor, and Marjoun, a farmer, were tagged as high-value individuals, while Shayn and Melvin were classified as street-level pushers.

Operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office–Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated 140 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP952,000.

The IPPO-PDEU conducted the operation following multiple reports linking the suspects to illegal drug activities.

Authorities said a two-week surveillance preceded the operation.

The suspects were believed to be operating in Pototan and nearby areas.

They are now in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
