BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Wednesday that he will ask Brigadier Gen. Leo M. Francisco, Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 Regional Director, to render an update on the peace and order situation in the region.

Lacson, who was designated as Peace and Council chairman for Western Visayas, said this is in line with the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to address the peace and order problem in the region.

The governor said all chairpersons of the Regional Peace and Order Council were called to Malacañang Tuesday night by the Department of the Interior and Local Government with President Marcos administering their oath.

Lacson said the President focused on two things in their discussion – political violence and drugs.

“It was a general instruction, there was no specific area mentioned,” he added.

He further said this is the reason why he has asked the PNP to report on the peace and order situation in the region.

Aside from President Marcos, Vice President Sara Duterte and DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos were also present.

The governor also said that it is imperative for PRO-6 to give an update on the peace and order situation all over the region “to give us an assurance that the upcoming political exercise will be peaceful.”
