BACOLOD City – Contingents of the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) competed during the 2nd CDM Regional Competition held at Nocppo headquarters here last Tuesday.
Nocppo’s CDM headed by its company commander Police Major Robert Dejucos was the first to perform during the competition.
It was followed by the BCPO CDM contingents led by Police Major Sherlock Gabana.
The two teams performed eight CDM formation to include – standby column, single line, double line, umbrella or cover, wedge, double wedge, arrow, and box.
The contingents also showed off their skills in dealing with aggressive protesters when they were given their assigned scenarios.
Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, Nocppo director, said the competition is being held to equip and train policemen to manage difficult scenarios and to exercise maximum tolerance against aggressive individuals in case of protests and other street chaos.
“We are addressing the problem on the streets and also consider how to respect human rights. We are not only doing this to win but we should get good experiences that we can employ in the field in case of untoward incidents,” he added.
The winner this year will advance to the regional level and will compete with other provinces in Panay area.
The BCPO was hailed as the champion in last year’s regional competition held in Iloilo City.
