BACOLOD City – A personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This was confirmed by Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, during a virtual press conference yesterday.
Palgue said the policeman, with a rank of Police Corporal, was assigned to the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and was detailed in one of the hotel quarantine facilities here, which caters locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
The cop tested positive for the virus in mid-July 2020 when he underwent mandatory swab test. He was immediately taken to the provincial healing center in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental for the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Palgue said the policeman already tested negative in his repeated swab tests and was allowed to go home for quarantine.
“He is safe now and has recovered,” the provincial director said.
He said that Nocppo has also provided essentials and other supplies to him and his family while he was isolated. He, however, cannot yet tell when the policeman will return to work.
He said that the policeman’s colleagues and those persons who had close contact with him tested negative for COVID-19.
Policemen are also considered frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, thus he reminded his personnel that “we must learn to live with COVID,” which according to him stands for Christ Over Victorious Individuals.”
He thanked the local government units (LGUs) for also extending their assistance to the provincial police force, by providing them Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) that they can use in the performance of their duties since they are also at risk of getting the infection while providing security to returning Negrenses.
