Negros Masons adopt Bago City school

The Kanlaon Lodge No. 64, Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as a commitment to adopt Guanzon-Balgos Elementary School in Barangay Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

The MOU was signed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Edison Garcia, who led the fraternity group as worshipful master, and Mary Escobar, Teacher In-Charge of the school, last Friday.

Also present in the signing was Very Worshipful Alexander Cabales, District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic District RXIII – Negros Island, and the Masonic brethren.

The group has vowed to provide the needed resources for the development of the school.

Kanlaon Lodge No. 64 also donated 16 Orbit fans to the school.

“This is the true mission of Freemasonry which is helping those in need,” Cabales said.

Meanwhile, Garcia extended his heartfelt gratitude to brethren of Kanlaon Lodge No. 64 and assured the adopted school of continued and sustainable partnership.

For her part, Escobar, thanked the group for their overwhelming support to the school.

Masonry is one of the oldest fraternities in the world.

It teaches man to practice charity and benevolence, to protect chastity, to respect the ties of blood and friendship, to adopt the principles and revere the ordinances of religion, to assist the feeble, guide the blind, raise up the downtrodden, shelter the orphan, guard the altar, support the government, inculcate morality, promote learning, love man, fear God, implore his mercy, and hope for happiness.
