BACOLOD City – Mayors in Negros Occidental doubled their efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 in their respective localities.
Himamaylan Mayor Raymund Tongson continuously urged local residents for their full cooperation in complying with the safety protocols, particularly in staying at home and going out only when necessary.
The city has 144 new COVID cases as of June 14.
La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan called on 13 barangay captains in the town to help implement and to observe basic health protocols.
In Memorandum Order No.021-034 dated June 15, 2021, Mangilimutan reminded village chiefs to enforce protocols and measures as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in several resolutions, especially the prohibition on mass gatherings.
She also reminded them of administrative and other sanctions if they fail to impose protocols, based on Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) memorandum circulars as well as Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson’s executive orders.
As of June 15, La Castellana has 25 new COVID cases – 10 from Brgy. Cabacungan, 2 from Brgy. Sag-ang, and 13 from Barangay Robles.
Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares repeatedly reminded the local residents to strictly observe health protocols.
He also urged the residents to register and avail of the government’s free vaccination program.
As of June 16, Talisay City has 17 new cases.
