FIFA and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) have unveiled the official branding for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, highlighting the nation’s rich culture and passion for the sport.
Set to take place from November 21 to December 7, the tournament will feature 16 teams competing at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City and Victorias City Coliseum in Negros Occidental.
The tournament emblem fuses futsal’s key elements with Filipino cultural motifs, including Zamboanga vinta boats, gabbang musical instruments, and traditional binakol patterns.
“It’s been a long cooperation between PFF and FIFA to make this brand and logo happen,” said FIFA Director for Tournaments Jaime Yarza. “We wanted to convey not only futsal but also a model of a colorful, vibrant country like the Philippines.”
PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez emphasized the significance of the tournament for women’s sports development.
“It is an honor for our country to host the first-ever edition of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup,” he said. “This tournament will capture the imagination of fans in the Philippines and beyond, forging a path for future generations.”
With the FIFA Men’s World Cup being the most-watched sporting event globally, FIFA aims to elevate women’s futsal on the international stage.
“We’re convinced that hosting such a World Cup in the Philippines, with the passion that we have seen here, will really make a lot of girls [pick up] the sport,” said Yarza.
New Zealand has already secured a spot alongside host nation Philippines, while other qualifiers will be determined through continental competitions in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Meanwhile, the Philippine women’s futsal team is preparing for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup in China after finishing third in the qualifying tournament in January.
The Victorias City Coliseum is undergoing modifications to meet FIFA standards, with local officials ensuring top-class facilities and warm Filipino hospitality for visiting teams and fans.
“The local government of Victorias wants to showcase how well the Filipinos host,” Gutierrez said. “We’re very known for our hospitality, so they want to make sure that the facility is world-class.”
