BACOLOD CITY – The provincial government of Negros Occidental, along with 18 cities and six municipalities that passed the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), received their respective incentive funds during a ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall.

Negros Occidental received PHP 3 million, while the 12 cities each received PHP 2 million. The six municipalities were awarded PHP 1.153 million.

The ceremonial turnover of checks was led by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Negros Island Region (NIR) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Regional Director Lailyn Ortiz, DILG NIR OIC Assistant Regional Director Teodora Sumagaysay, DILG Bacolod City Director Christian Nagaynay, and Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

The 12 cities that received incentives were Bacolod, Bago, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Sipalay, Talisay, and Victorias.

The six municipalities awarded were Enrique B. Magalona, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, and Manapla.

The SGLG is the highest and most prestigious recognition conferred by the DILG to local government units (LGUs) that demonstrate excellence in governance.

Lacson emphasized that the SGLG Incentive Fund is not just a reward but an affirmation of each LGU’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and effective governance.

“This incentive fund is not just a financial boost – it is an investment in the future of our communities. I trust that each LGU will maximize these resources to implement priority projects that will improve the lives of our people,” he said.
