The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) arrested 261 suspects in anti-illegal gambling operations across Western Visayas from May 1 to 15, with Negros Occidental and Bacolod City leading the number of apprehensions.
According to a report from the Regional Operations Division, the arrests stemmed from 95 police operations in the region, resulting in the confiscation of Php 95,414.50 in bet money.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the highest number of arrests with 134 individuals, followed by Bacolod City Police Office (CPO) with 35. Other provinces with notable arrests include Antique PPO with 27, Iloilo PPO with 20, Capiz PPO with 18, Iloilo CPO with 17, and Aklan PPO with 10.
Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, the top cop in Western Visayas, acknowledged these achievements and commended the field commanders for their efforts in the anti-illegal gambling campaign.
“Keep up the good work. Motivate our personnel to always work harder against illegal gambling and other illegal activities,” Wanky stated.
These operations are part of a broader initiative to curb illegal gambling in the region, demonstrating the commitment of law enforcement to maintain peace and order.
