Negros Power Boosts Reliability with Substation Maintenance

Negros Power prioritizes grid stability through scheduled preventive maintenance at the Mt. View Substation in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City on April 13, 2025.

BACOLOD CITY — Negros Power, reinforcing its commitment to reliable electricity distribution and efficient service, completed scheduled preventive maintenance at the Mt. View Substation in Barangay Mandalagan on April 13, 2025.

The activity included the replacement of more than 100 insulators and critical hotspot repairs to keep the substation in optimal condition and reduce the risk of unexpected outages.

The operation, which began at 6 a.m. and concluded by noon, required a temporary power interruption in areas connected to the substation.

Despite the inconvenience, residents welcomed the company’s proactive approach to system reliability.

“I understand the inconvenience of a temporary power interruption, and seeing how committed the team was — even under the scorching sun — makes me more confident in the company’s direction to improve the service and make our electricity reliable,” said consumer Maria Lopez in the local dialect.

Engineer Andy Besana, who supervised the operation, underscored the importance of the work as part of Negros Power’s ongoing five-year modernization and rehabilitation program.

“Our goal is to ensure that our facilities are in optimal condition, minimizing unexpected outages and continuously improving the quality of service for our consumers,” Besana said.

The company assured consumers that continuous upgrades and preventive actions will be implemented in the coming years to ensure a consistent and safe power supply.
