BACOLOD CITY – Negros Power completed a two-day rehabilitation project over the weekend to strengthen its power infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity for consumers.

The initiative, conducted from Feb. 22 to 24, focused on critical areas connected to Burgos Feeder 3 and the 69-kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line.

The project aimed to enhance the company’s resilience against typhoons and other adverse weather conditions, minimizing outages and ensuring a continuous power supply for residential, commercial and industrial consumers across Central Negros.

For two days, Negros Power teams worked tirelessly despite challenging weather and difficult terrain to complete the rehabilitation efforts.

The project involved the replacement of 18 aging poles and the installation of 235 new pin insulators along the route from Barangay Granada to Barangay Alangilan.

Tree wires were also deployed along the same stretch, further reinforcing network stability.

On the 69-kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line, an additional seven deteriorating poles and three insulators were replaced, bolstering the structural integrity of the power network.

These upgrades are part of Negros Power’s five-year Rehabilitation and Modernization Program, which identifies and addresses high-risk areas to ensure uninterrupted service for all consumers.

“We are prioritizing preemptive upgrades to mitigate risks before calamities strike,” said Engr. Mervin Dalian, assistant vice president of the Network Development and Operations Group of Negros Power.

“This massive rehabilitation is part of our preparation for typhoons. By addressing high-risk areas first, we reduce potential problems. We have successfully replaced old poles and insulators to improve reliability.”

Negros Power’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to modernization and ensuring a stable, efficient power system for its entire franchise area.
