Nephew hacks aunt to death

BACOLOD City – An elderly woman died while another was wounded in a hacking incident at Barangay San Benito, Calatrava, Negros Occidental Tuesday.

Killed was Estrilla Pinili, 70 while Julita Alibiado, 53, was wounded.

Police Captain Eugene Tolentino, town police chief, said Pinili and Alibiado were talking outside their houses when suspect Renato De-erio, 39, of Barangay Marcelo arrived and joined in the conversation.

De-erio is a nephew of Pinili and Alibiado’s cousin.

In the middle of their conversation, De-erio suddenly attacked the women with a knife then fled.

Pinili succumbed to multiple hack wounds on her neck while Alibiado also suffered hack wounds on her neck.

Alibiado is in a hospital.

Before the incident, the suspect and his brother were drinking liquor at their house when the former talked about threatening the victims, Tolentino said.

Tolentino said an old grudge may have triggered the incident. De-erio remains at large.
