A newly paved concrete road by the Department of Public Works and Highways now provides safer and more convenient access to the Goducate Training Center in Barangay Sto. Angel, San Miguel, Iloilo.

The PHP48.09-million project, implemented by the DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office, involves the concreting of a 1,920-lineal meter, two-lane Portland Cement Concrete Pavement access road from the national road in Sitio Sapa, Barangay San Antonio, San Miguel.

Goducate Training Center is an inland camp and training resort that combines education and recreation to support sustainable communities through eco-tourism.

Its advocacy extends beyond tourism, promoting health and nutrition, agriculture, character development and literacy in rural communities.

With this, the road improvement plays a vital role in supporting the center’s mission.

DPWH Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said the new road will promote faster and more efficient transportation, boosting tourism and connectivity.

“This concrete road will significantly improve accessibility to the Goducate Training Center, which is one of the most visited sites for retreats and recreation—a perfect getaway from city life,” Oropel said.

He added that the road will reduce travel time and make it easier for people from nearby areas to attend training sessions.

District Engineer Mario G. Soriano also emphasized the road’s importance to local residents, especially farmers and agri-producers.

“The improved road condition will ensure convenient transportation for residents from remote barangays and enable faster, more cost-efficient delivery of agricultural products to market,” Soriano said.

The DPWH said paving the road is a key step in enhancing mobility for people, goods and services.

It added that it will continue implementing road projects that link rural communities to major thoroughfares, enabling faster transport and easier access to basic government services. (DPWH)
