The newly installed chiefs of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)’s City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) began their stints with a ₱1.02 million drug bust.

Members of the ICPO-CDEU, along with personnel from Iloilo City Police Station 4, arrested Ernesto Eran, alias “Boss,” 28, of Barangay Pinantan, Ajuy, Iloilo, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City.

Eran was apprehended around 11:32 p.m. on Sept. 10 after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for ₱12,000.

A subsequent frisking revealed 26 more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items.

The seized drugs weighed about 150 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱1,020,000.

Eran is the first drug personality arrested by the CDEU since Lt. Dante Tayco and Capt. Ryan Christ Inot took over as CIU chief and CDEU team leader, respectively.

Police monitored that the suspect allegedly used his position as a sales supervisor as a front for his illegal drug activities.

Eran reportedly disguised his drug transactions while delivering construction supplies.

Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, commended the operation, praising the CDEU and ICPS4 for arresting another high-value drug personality.

He emphasized that despite being new to Iloilo City, the officers sent a clear message that the ICPO remains committed to its efforts to eliminate illegal drugs in the community.
