Atty. Jerome Asuga, the newly-installed National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) – Region 6 director, declared that his leadership would not be predicated on finding fault.
Instead, it would prioritize listening to the concerns of both uniformed and non-uniformed members of the Philippine National Police.
He made these remarks as the guest of honor and speaker at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6’s 33rd PNP Foundation Day celebration at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City on Monday, Feb. 19.
“The Napolcom is tasked with supervising and controlling the PNP, which means the Napolcom will serve the PNP. So, I believe finding fault is pointless. File a case if there is a mistake,” Asuga stated.
What the PNP needs, according to Asuga, is leadership that is caring and attentive to their needs.
The new Napolcom-6 chief pointed out that society grants privileges and trust to policemen as law enforcers.
Asuga reminded the police force that they are the guardians of morality.
“They have an advantage over us. They have the privilege of enforcing the law,” he commented, implying that their demeanor and character should be beyond reproach.
“If you can’t fulfill this, we can file cases against you,” he warned.
Asuga emphasized that as the moral pillars of society, police officers carry a heavy responsibility every time they don their uniforms.
Under his direction, he also pledged close coordination between the Napolcom and the PNP.
