Just like his predecessors, the newly-installed Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 commander would also focus on the usual law enforcement works during his stint in Western Visayas.
During his assumption of office ceremony, Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor said he would focus on illegal drugs, personnel morale and welfare, and internal cleansing.
He said his mission is all about forging a strong and unified police force toward nation-building.
“Unified Service shall also be the center of my administration supported by the implementation of the CPNP’s 5-Focused Agenda here in PRO 6,” he said.
Under his leadership, Villaflor said they would be aggressive in conducting law enforcement operations.
“But we will ensure honesty and integrity in conducting these to regain public trust,” he said.
Since PRO-6 enjoyed a higher trust and respect rating, Villaflor said they would just enhance the conduct of law enforcement operations.
Also, “we will ensure that we follow the standard police operational procedures in conducting law enforcement operations and guarantee that we establish airtight cases to be referred before the appropriate authority as this will help us achieve a high conviction rate,” he said.
The new PRO-6 chief vowed a more relentless anti-criminality, anti-insurgency, and anti-illegal drugs campaign.
“It’s about making sure that the public will feel safe and secure in their respective homes and in the community,” he said.
Villaflor said they would run after distributors, high-value targets, and street level individuals, even as they would also support the rehabilitation program of drug dependents.
Second on Villaflor’s list is personnel morale and welfare.
“We would do that by raising the bar of excellence through efficient and effective training and learning development for our personnel and capability build-up, especially for our patrol vehicles, firearms, radio communication, body-worn camera units, and the like,”‘he said.
Under the said program, Villaflor said he would also be practicing the rewards system.
“We will give due honor and credit to those who work well and prioritize the uplifting of the morale of both the uniformed and non-uniformed personnel. Personnel development and career growth will be fair and just,” he said.
Third, Villaflor would also give due cognizance to integrity enhancement.
“We will be decisive in instilling discipline and decorum and punishing those who are involved in any illegal activities. Our internal cleansing program will continue, and I will not allow anyone to tarnish the good image of our police here in the western Visayas,” he said.
The use of Information and Communications Technology is fourth in Villaflor’s focus.
Currently, there are ICT projects implemented in the National Headquarters which, he claimed, will be adopted and incorporated to suit the needs of Western Visayas to improve PRO-6’s crime solution and crime prevention programs.
The last on his five-point agenda is the reinvigoration of the community and stakeholders’ engagement.
Villaflor acknowledged that each sector of society is needed to effectively and efficiently carry out the PNP’s mandate.
“We will establish more collaborative cooperation among our stakeholders and our local chief executives to further analyze, design, and implement solutions that will strengthen our peace and order campaigns,” he said.
As he starts a new chapter for PRO 6, Villaflor has asked for his personnel’s deep commitment to performing your respective tasks.
“Each one of us, regardless of position and designation, plays an important role in the whole PRO 6 to be a highly credible, effective, and credible police regional office. That is why I call all the men and women of the Western Visayas region to make each day an opportunity for us to deliver the best police service to our stakeholders,” he said.
