A seafarer, who was believed to have been planning to pull off a surprise for his family, was found dead morning of Oct. 1 in a hotel in City Proper district, Iloilo City.
The body of 51-year-old Alfredo Alacapa, single, a resident of Bacolod City, was found on the bed in his room at Fine Rock Hotel in Barangay Hipodromo, City Proper.
He was lying on his chest and was only wearing underwear.
Captain Roque Gimeno III, Iloilo City Police Station 1 chief, said no superficial injuries were found on the victim’s body.
There was also no sign of forcible eatery or struggle
His documents, money, and mobile phone were also intact.
It was gathered that the victim checked in at the hotel morning of Sept. 29.
At around 11 a.m. on Sept. 30, the hotel’s front desk called his room and asked if he would like to extend his stay.
He answered yes, claiming he has to process some papers by Monday, Oct. 2.
Shortly after that, he was seen going out of the hotel room presumably to have his lunch outside.
Gimeno said the victim’s family wasn’t aware that he already returned home from working abroad.
They were shocked to know that he was found dead inside a hotel in Iloilo City.
“So far, we found no evidence to suggest that there was foul play in his death,” Gimeno said.
However, the police already advised the family to conduct an autopsy to determine his cause of death.
