BACOLOD City – Nine troopers of the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) were commended for demonstrating exemplary actions during an armed encounter against the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Namunduan, Barangay Cambudlas, Bindoy, Negros Oriental last month.
Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), awarded the Military Commendation Medals (MCM) to the soldiers at the barangay hall of Tambo village in Ayungon town, near the 94th IB headquarters on Thursday.
The military troopers and personnel of Bindoy Municipal Police Station clashed with NPA members while conducting community security patrols in the town on April 30.
A soldier was wounded while two alleged NPA members were killed.
Pasaporte lauded the bravery and selfless dedication of the operating troops to secure and protect the community of Bindoy.
“The medal symbolizes your bravery in facing our enemy and selfless dedication on your oath to protect the people and the country,” Pasaporte said.
“As your Brigade Commander, I want to recognize your collective efforts and may this simple occasion motivate you to do more and perform well on your next mission. Let us continue our efforts in going after the communist NPA terrorists and show to them the true grit of 94th Infantry ‘MANDIRIGMA’ Battalion,” he added.
