ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas is bent on erasing traces of the previous administration headed by his brother-in-law, former mayor Jose Espinosa III.
In his Thanksgiving Mass at San Jose de Placer Parish on July 1, 2019, Treñas again expressed his frustration on the recently concluded midterm elections, which he labelled “most vicious.”
“Ini nga election tam-an ka sakit.
Treñas also sought guidance to help him face the people who betrayed him.
Kabay pa nga indi ko man sila pagtapungulon.
On his first day of business, Treñas also announced that the regular meeting of department heads every Monday at the City Hall Penthouse will no longer have the usual breakfast buffet.
He added that the City Hall band dubbed “Combo” will also be banned from playing.
Wala na sang buffet nga pamahaw kada Lunes,” Treñas said.
Buffet breakfasts and music jams every Monday was a standard practice during Espinosa’s term.
Starting next month, Treñas said that he will also refrain from using the VIP elevator and instead use the public elevator.
“Gusto ko ma-eksperiensyahan ang na eksperiensyahan sang mga ordinaryo nga empleyado,” he said.
The thanksgiving mass was followed by a blessing of the different offices in the City Hall.
Treñas also checked the offices in each floor before attending a meeting with the finance committee on Monday.
