BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental provincial government officials called on the public not to panic amid the spread of the novel coronavirus while reminding everyone to take precautionary measures.
“There is no case here yet, there is no need to panic but we have to be cautious as well,” Occidental vice-governor Jeffrey Ferrer said.
Ferrer told reporters here Tuesday that there should be continuous awareness campaigns by local government units in the province.
The bottom line is still hygiene so that our immune system remains strong, he added.
Provincial Board members Rita Gatuslao and Macho Alonso echoed Ferrer’s statement.
Gatuslao passed a resolution in Tuesday’s session enjoining LGUs to conduct information to educate the public about coronavirus.
The people should be properly informed about how to avoid undue panic, Gatuslao, chairman of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan Committee on Health said.
