BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has implemented stricter Boundary Quarantine Control Points (BQCPs) in five borders to Negros Oriental.
This, after Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued Executive Order No. 21-30 last week that prohibits all non-essential travel from Negros Oriental to Negros Occidental, and vice versa.
The ban is in effect from June 15 to June 30, 2021 to control the recent surge of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the province.
The BQCPs were located at the borders of Kabankalan City from Mabinay, Negros Oriental; Hinobaan from Basay, Negros Oriental; Isabela from Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental; La Castellana from Canlaon City, Negros Oriental; and San Carlos City from Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.
Inner BQCPs in Bago City from Bacolod City and Talisay City from Bacolod City were also established.
The EO directed police mobile patrol cars of the city and municipal police stations all over the province to conduct recorridas (public address campaign), while police personnel will conduct information drive and distribute flyers to inform the public of the salient points of the order.
The EO also mandated the strict observance of health protocols, temporary closure of all beaches, resorts, water parks, and other similar recreational venues from June 23 to June 25, 2021, to prevent super spreader COVID-19 activities during the celebration of the Feast of San Juan.
Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, appealed to the people to adhere to the recent guidelines to avoid inconvenience, and to help curb the surge of COVID-19 cases in the province.
