BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has recorded five firecracker-related incidents as of January 3, 2021.

Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s deputy public information officer said yesterday that three incidents were reported in Cauayan town and two others in Bago City.

The cases in Bago City involved a four-year-old boy from Barangay Bacong, and a 13-year-old boy from Barangay Malingin.

The four-year-old boy suffered an eye injury caused by “boga,” a noisemaker usually made of PVC pipe or bamboo for revelries. The other victim sustained burns after a “triangulo” blasted his left thigh.

Donasco said there were no stray bullet incidents reported this year in relation to the celebration of New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has not reported any firecracker-related and stray bullet incidents.

The local police thanked the public for their cooperation as the holiday season was generally peaceful.
