BACOLOD CITY – The New People’s Army (NPA) claimed another killing in Negros Island.

In a statement dated April 12, the Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC)-NPA Central Negros Guerrilla Front, claimed the death of 33-year-old Armando Babor, a carpenter, in Barangay Mani-ak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, April 11.

Ka JB Regalado, LPC-NPA spokesperson, said that Babor was an alleged intelligence asset of the military in the city.

Regalado said that Babor allegedly presented himself as an NPA rebel and surrendered to the military forces in 2018 to act as its intelligence asset.

The rebel group reached out to the victim in 2021 and 2022 to warn him of his actions against the revolutionary movement, but he allegedly insisted.

Regalado said that Babor was a legitimate military target of the NPA, considering that he guided the military troopers in their operations in the upland villages of the city last year.

Babor was having breakfast at home when three unidentified armed persons arrived and shot him, based on police investigation.

Two days prior to the incident in Guihulngan City, the LPC-NPA also owned up to the killing of 63-year-old Danilo Bedaja in Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on April 9.

The rebel group alleged that some residents in the area were complaining against the victim for alleged theft and land grabbing.
