The National University Bullpups achieved an unblemished record after completing a 16-0 regular season sweep as they took down the mighty FEU Baby Tamaraws in the UAAP Juniors finals, 87-80, to cap-off their historic season.
Carl Tamayo imposed his will underneath, tallying an insane 26 points and 22 rebounds double-double performance to grab the UAAP Juniors Finals MVP.
It was NU who dictated the tempo at the start of the ball game as they went to Tamayo early on at the post, scoring in various ways as he became NU’s go-to-guy the whole game.
The NU scoring onslaught continued as Tamayo extended his game to the perimeter, knocking down treys and mid-range jumpers to further open the floor for his teammates.
The Baby Tamaraws managed to keep it close in the final frame but NU’s poise under pressure was unwavering as they celebrated after the final buzzer sounded.
What the Bullpups accomplished this season was a repeat of what the Ateneo Blue Eagles Men’s basketball and the NU Lady Bulldogs achieved in their respective tournaments, notching a perfect regular season record en route to winning the championship title.
