OFW nabbed for VAWC raps

BACOLOD City – An Overseas Filipino Worker facing charges of violating Republic Acts 7610 (Anti-Child Abuse Law) and 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Children) was arrested Friday last week.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group led by Police Chief MSGt. Ramiro Gocotano, Bacolod City Police Station 6, Regional Intelligence Division 6 and 603rd Maritime Command collared Demy Gemora Jr. of Brgy. Taculing here.

Regional Trial Court Judge Maritess Gumahin ordered Gemora’s arrest with bail set at P36,000 for the RA 7610 case and P80,000 for the RA 9262 charge.

Police also nabbed four murder suspects in separate operations over the weekend.

Romel and Julie Gelacio and Sandy Alvarez were arrested at Brgy. Inolingan, Moises Padilla.

La Carlota Regional Trial Court Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez ordered their arrest without bail.

Another murder suspect identified as Lonie Hinar was also arrested at Brgy. 5, Moises Padilla with no bail.

Meanwhile, five laborers – Jay and Danny Noble, Elena and Jimmy Jocame, and Alberto Baylon Jr. – were collared for grave threats at Brgy. Mailum, Bago City, on Saturday.

A P36,000 bail was recommended for each accused who are now detained at Bago City Police Station.

Jovel Velasco was also nabbed Friday at Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Ilog, for direct assault against an agent of person in authority.

Elmber Abendan was nabbed in Himamaylan City for robbery with homicide.
