The MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF) by Manny V. Pangilinan continues to help topnotch athletes of the country.
First, it was Tokyo Olympics qualifier Carlos Yulo followed by Olympic-hopeful weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.
Stranded in Malaysia due to the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Diaz is currently forced to train there with limited sources and staff because of the suspension of flights.
In her bid to punch a ticket to the 2021 Olympics, the MVPSF lent the prized weightlifter P1.5 million to cover all expenses in her training and daily needs.
“It was due to these unforeseen circumstances that we at the MVPSF decided that it was best to realign our support to cover Hidilyn’s living expenses such as food and rent as she continues to remain focused towards her goal of winning the first Olympic gold medal for our country in hopefully, her fourth time to qualify for the Olympics,” said MVPSF president Al S. Panlilio.
Diaz was in Malaysia because she was supposed to participate in her last Olympics qualifying tournament in the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships.
To assess her training in Malaysia, Diaz recently joined in the Eleiko Email International Lifters Tournament and nabbed the gold medal.
