BACOLOD City – A man died while another was injured in separate hacking incidents in Negros Occidental in the past two days.
In San Carlos City, Manuelito Rizaldo, 30, of Barangay Rizal died after he was allegedly hacked by 50-year-old Dionesio Unabia last Tuesday.
Major Mark Angelo Junco, city police chief, said Rizaldo and Unabia were drinking liquor along with their two other co-workers, when a heated argument ensued between them after the victim told the suspect that he will not go to work on Friday because he will go to Church.
But Unabia insisted that they still have lots of work to do.
Both were pacified and they all decided to go to sleep, but the suspect reportedly went to the victim and allegedly attacked him with a bladed weapon.
Rizaldo succumbed to multiple hack wounds, while the suspect was arrested by the police.
Murder charges will be filed against Unabia, Junco said.
In Hinoba-an town, Jerry Elarcosa, 58, of Barangay Asia was wounded after he was allegedly hacked by 41-year-old Jose Hinggaray.
Police records showed that Hinggaray entered Elarcosa’s house and figured in a heated argument with the latter’s wife.
The suspect then went to the kitchen, where the victim was doing something, and allegedly hacked the latter’s face, investigation showed.
The victim was brought to a hospital, while the suspect is now in police custody.
