ROXAS CITY, Capiz — One person was killed and three others were injured in a hacking incident on the evening of October 12 at Sitio Minoro, Barangay West Villaflores, Maayon, Capiz.
According to a police investigation by Maayon PNP, a heated argument broke out between Jonilon Lecsio Morallos, 46, and his brother, Gilbert Lecsio Morallos, 48.
Their sisters, Leah Lecsio Alcayde, 30, and Jennelyn Lecsio Botis, 40, tried to intervene, but Jonilon grabbed a bolo and attacked them.
Gilbert managed to grab a hard object and struck Jonilon, allowing the siblings to disarm him.
The victims were rushed to Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra, but Jennelyn Lecsio Botis was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The other victims were confined at the same hospital for treatment.
Jonilon, the suspect, was brought to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police are investigating a land dispute as the possible motive behind the incident.
