BACOLOD City – A man died while two others were wounded after a passenger jeepney collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Purok Biri, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Killed in the accident was Samuel Olimpo, 30, of Barangay Alegria.

Wounded were Kearl Saint Ong, 27, and Vira Tavorada, 24, both residents of Bacolod City.

Police Major Joeil Reclamado, Murcia town police chief, said that Olimpo was on his way home when he allegedly dozed off and swerved to the opposite lane, leading to a head-on collision with a Toyota Innova driven by Ong.

Reclamado said the jeepney had no passengers when the accident happened.

Police said that it took a few hours for rescuers to remove Olimpo after he was stuck on the jeepney due to the impact of the accident.

Olimpo later passed away in a hospital, according to Reclamado.

The two wounded victims were brought to a hospital here, according to the police.

Reclamado said they are waiting for the decision of the families involved if there will be a filing of charges.
