BACOLOD City – A man died while another was injured in separate stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental last Sunday.
In Himamaylan City, 40-year-old Roberto Cagayan was allegedly stabbed to death by 53-year-old Vicente Ambata at Barangay Libacao.
Police Lieutenant Arturo Margallo Jr., deputy police chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Cagayan passed by the area where Ambata and his companions were drinking liquor.
Ambata and Cagayan then talked for a while until they figured in an altercation, Margallo said. Both were also reportedly drunk.
Margallo said Ambata then attacked the victim with a double-bladed knife and fled bringing with him the weapon he used in the incident.
“Wala mabal-an if ano ang gin halinan sang lalisanay nila,” he added.
Cagayan succumbed to a lone stab wound in the chest.
Margallo said that Ambata and Cagayan had no grudges against each other, and just figured in an argument probably because of drunkenness.
Ambata, who is still at large, may be charged for homicide or murder, according to Margallo.
In Toboso town, Jury Gabriel was injured after he was reportedly stabbed by his brother, Ernesto Gabriel Jr., at Barangay Tabun-ac.
Investigation indicated that the victim was sleeping alone inside his house when the suspect suddenly entered and allegedly attacked him with a bladed weapon.
The victim was rushed to Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City, while the suspect fled.
Police are eyeing grudges or drunkenness as possible motives in the incident.
