A man on Oriental Mindoro’s most wanted list was arrested on the afternoon of September 27 in Carles, Iloilo.

The suspect, identified as alias Mel, 37, of Barangay Tupaz, Carles, was apprehended while in Poblacion, Carles.

Members of the Carles Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Roxas Municipal Police Station in Oriental Mindoro, the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Intelligence Team, the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Maritime Police Station in Estancia, carried out the arrest.

The operation was based on an arrest warrant for two counts of rape, filed under Criminal Case Numbers R-24-3805 and R-24-3806.

The arrest warrant was issued by Assisting Judge (Judge-at-Large) Jose Calvan Real Jr., of the 4th Regional Trial Court, Branch 43, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, on August 13, 2024.

No bail was recommended for the suspect’s provisional release.

Major Sonny Boy Garnace, Carles police chief, said the suspect is the seventh most wanted person in Oriental Mindoro.

He allegedly fled the province and hid at a relative’s house in Carles for about a month before his arrest.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Carles police and will be turned over to the court for further proceedings.
