THE fifth edition of the annual Hablon Festival at the historic Municipality of Miagao was highlighted with the glittering 2019 Miss Little Hablon beauty pageant.
Joined by selected girls representing schools in the town, the colorful pageantry kicked off with the candidates donning street wears, cocktail dresses and elegant gowns all made of Hablon. The heirloom fabric which was developed into a global textile by the Miagaoanons, is supported by the local government under the leadership of Miagao Mayor Mac Napulan.
Clinching the most coveted crown as this year’s Miss Little Hablon was Ma Galiza Fae Cordero followed by Mathina Ysabel Macabobo as 1st runner-up and Joe Ann Ross Mollenido as 2nd runner-up.
Adding glam to the event was the rousing performance of famed Teen Pop Boyband 212i.
The next day, I traveled to the quaint municipality of Calinog for the grand opening of SM Savemore at the sprawling Golden Paragon Shopping Mall.
The festive day kicked off with a holy mass at Calinog’s parish church followed by the ribbon cutting rites led by no less than SM Savemore’s Market CEO Herbert Sy, President Jose “Jojo” Tagbor and of course the owner of Golden paragon Shopping Mall Dr. Pacita Trinidad-Gonzalez (President Trinidad Gonzalez Corporation) and sons Dennis Gonzalez and Former Rep. Raul Gonzalez jr.
They were warmly welcomed by Calinog Mayor Francisco Calvo and Vice Mayor Renato Casinao.
Celebrity guest Kit Thomson entertained hordes of shoppers that cheerful day.
