The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that 175,908 individuals across six provinces in Western Visayas have been affected by the intensified southwest monsoon (habagat), which was enhanced by Tropical Cyclone Ferdie.
Tropical Cyclone Ferdie, known internationally as Bebinca, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on September 13 at 6 p.m. and exited by 2 a.m. on September 14, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The storm impacted 51,781 families in Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City.
As of September 15, a total of 7,079 families (22,724 individuals) are staying in 346 evacuation centers, while 2,656 families (8,015 individuals) are sheltering with relatives or friends.
The cyclone caused significant property damage, with 30 houses completely destroyed and 210 partially damaged.
The DSWD and local government units (LGUs) have provided humanitarian aid worth ₱9.33 million to affected areas.
The DSWD also reported ₱141.44 million in available relief resources, including ₱138.44 million in food and non-food items, to support ongoing efforts.
Assessments are still being conducted to ensure continuous aid distribution and evaluate further damage.
