Police seized more than P7 million worth of illegal drugs during an anti-drug operation on the evening of May 2 in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects identified only as alias Bryan, 30, a call center agent from Barangay Camambugan, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, and alias Perper, 38, a bouncer from Zone 2, Barangay Tanza Timawa, Iloilo City.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, along with personnel from the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit – Iloilo Police Provincial Office, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 6, apprehended the suspects after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P15,000 at Barangay Cabugao Sur, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo around 9:55 p.m. Thursday.
Police recovered 17 additional sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects. The seized drugs weighed approximately 1.040 kilos and were valued at P7,072,000.
Additionally, a caliber .357 revolver loaded with three live cartridges was seized from Bryan, while an improvised shotgun with two live cartridges was found in the possession of alias Perper.
It was reported that Bryan has a previous case for robbery in San Jose, Antique.
Both suspects are currently detained and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
