OVERSEAS Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region VI will once again offer scholarship programs for the beneficiaries of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).
The programs offered are Education and Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and OFW Dependents Scholarship Program (ODSP).
The EDSP is a scholarship program that offers financial assistance to qualified dependents, a child of active OWWA member or a sibling of a single active OWWA member, who shall enrol or is currently enrolled in any four-year or five-year baccalaureate course in any college or university.
The dependent applicant must not be more than 21 years old. It shall be in the form of financial assistance amounting to Php60,000 per school year.
Incoming freshmen for School Year 2020-2021 shall undergo Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Qualifying Examinations which will be held on October 20, 2019.
However, for those already enrolled in 2nd to 5th year in college for SY 2019 – 2020, acceptance will be on a first-come, first-served basis and shall have not lower than 85% equivalence in all academic and non-academic subjects during the last school year attended in full load.
Documentary Requirements (must be clear copy):
- 1 pc 2×2 ID picture with nametag or nameplate (recent)
- Authenticated Birth Certificate (PSA) of applicant
- Authenticated Birth Certificate (PSA) of single OFW if sibling
- Authenticated CENOMAR (PSA) of single OFW if sibling (recent)
- Certified True Copy of Grades previous School Year (2018-2019)
- Certificate of Good Moral
- First Page of OFW’s passport or seaman’s book (photocopy or printed scanned copy)
- Principal and Parent’s certification (Form 2 of application form) c/o OWWA
Releasing of application forms for the said scholarship program was already started last June 3, 2019. Deadline for submission of application forms including the documentary requirements is on August 23, 2019.
The ODSP, on the other hand, is a scholarship program that offers financial assistance to qualified dependents of active OWWA members with monthly salary of US$ 600.00 or below, regardless of job category, who shall enrol, is currently or has been enrolled in any 4-year or 5-year baccalaureate course or associate course in any college or university.
The scholarship shall be in a form of financial assistance of Php20,000 per school year. This scholarship program has limited slots only. Acceptance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The eligible beneficiary for the ODSP is a child of an active OWWA member or sibling of unmarried OWWA member who is single and 21 years old for incoming freshmen and 30 years old for those who are enrolled or have been enrolled in college for the SY 2019 – 2020.

- Incoming 1st year college : Grade 11 and Grade 12
- Incoming 2nd year – 5th year : two(2) previous semesters
- Certificate of Good Moral
- Registration form/ Proof of enrolment
- Syllabus/ Course Outline (list of academic subjects)
- OFW recent employment contract (monthly salary of not more than $600 US dollars)
- Parent’s certification of no previous EDSP/ ODSP availment (Form 2 of application form) c/o OWWA
OWWA Region 6 office will start releasing the ODSP application forms on August 5, 2019. Deadline for submission of the application forms including the documentary requirements is on August 30, 2019.
