P1.02-M shabu seized in drug bust

After a short hiatus, it seems that the illegal drug trade is again back in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

On August 9, police made another drug haul with the arrest of an ex-convict in a buy-bust operation.

Geovany Gozon, 32, was arrested at his own house at around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), together with the Iloilo City Police Station 5, collared Gozon after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P12,000.

Captain Roque Gimeno III, CDEU team leader, said the suspect tried to flee but was later subdued.

When he was eventually frisked, police recovered four more sachets and a knot-tied plastic of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, several drug paraphernalia, and a steel box.

Gimeno said the seized drugs weighed around 150 grams of shabu and has a standard drug price value of P1,020,000.

Gozon is the number two priority drug personality target of the ICPS5.

He allegedly worked as a distributor for alias Nognog, one of Iloilo City’s top drug personalities.

He was arrested in a big bust operation on June 2022 but was released through a plea bargaining agreement this year.

Gozon is now back in jail and will again face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
