BACOLOD City – In a series of targeted buy-bust operations last Friday, law enforcement officers in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental apprehended three individuals, leading to the seizure of suspected shabu valued at P1,285,200.
In Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, a 58-year-old woman was caught with 163 grams of the suspected substance, worth an estimated P1,108,400.
According to the police report, the suspect had allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P12,000.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, the city’s police chief, indicated that the woman, considered a high-value target, had been under surveillance for some time.
“She is allegedly the source of illegal drugs in Talisay and Bacolod,” Darroca stated.
Additionally, two relatives were arrested at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport, after they reportedly possessed 26 grams of suspected shabu worth P176,800.
Police Captain Melvin Mercado, the head of Police Station 8, mentioned that the male suspect, 45, had been on the police radar for over a week before the arrest, which also resulted in the detention of his alleged accomplice.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the acting director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, commended the officers for their vigilance and commitment. Wanky emphasized the significant impact of these operations in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs within the region.
