BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) seized an estimated P13,244,976 worth of illegal drugs from January to June 2019.
In the first half of the year, 1,324.46 grams of shabu worth P13,244,600 were confiscated, while 15.04 grams of marijuana (P376) were seized, records from Nocppo showed.
Police Major Edison Garcia, Nocppo’s public information officer, said the drug haul this year increased because of the intensified campaign of provincial policemen against illegal drugs, citing the 356 operations conducted in 2019, compared to last year’s 195 operations, covering the same period.
“We doubled our efforts to at least lessen the existence of illegal drugs in the province,” he added.
Of the total number of operations this year, 54 were conducted in January, 75 in February, 64 in March, 52 in April, 51 in May, and 60 in June.
It resulted in the arrest of 480 suspects and filing of 900 cases in court.
