P19M in drugs seized in W. Visayas in just a week

Illegal drugs valued at almost P19 million were seized in various police operations across Western Visayas over the span of one week.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 records showed that different units conducted 77 anti-narcotics operations as part of the Birada Semana, which ran from June 10 to 16.

Birada Semana is a weeklong enhanced managing police operations (E-MPO) and focused police operation targeting anti-criminality, wanted persons, illegal drugs, and illegal gambling.

The series of anti-illegal drug operations led to the confiscation of 2.781 kilograms of shabu and 125 grams of marijuana worth P18,914,098 and resulted in the arrest of 110 persons.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) conducted the most operations with 28, followed by Iloilo PPO with 15, Bacolod City Police Office with 11, Iloilo City Police Office with eight, Capiz PPO with six, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 with four, Antique and Guimaras PPOs with two each, and Aklan PPO with one.

Despite NOcPPO conducting the most operations, Iloilo PPO and RPDEU-6 confiscated the highest volume of illegal drugs. IPPO seized illegal drugs valued at P6,593,960, while RPDEU-6 confiscated P6,324,000 worth of drugs.

BCPO seized P2,486,760 worth of shabu and P1,800 worth of marijuana; NOcPPO confiscated P1,192,618 worth of shabu and marijuana valued at P13,200; ICPO seized P1,156,000 worth of illegal drugs; Capiz PPO confiscated P931,600 worth; Guimaras seized P115,600 worth; Antique confiscated P118,800 worth; and Aklan seized P4,760 worth.

This month’s Birada Semana resulted in a larger volume of illegal drugs being confiscated compared to May’s records. Last month’s operations led to the seizure of 824 grams of shabu with a standard drug price (SDP) of P5,603,200.
