P268M in drugs seized 6 months after Wanky assumes WV police

Around P268 million worth of illegal drugs were seized during Brigadier General Jack Wanky’s six-month tenure as Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 chief.

From February 15 to August 14, 2024, PRO-6 records show that various police units recovered 39,136 grams of shabu valued at P266 million and around 20,805 grams of marijuana worth P2.5 million.

These confiscations resulted from 1,278 police operations, which also led to the arrest of 1,648 individuals.

The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, the PRO-6 anti-drug unit, recorded the largest haul at P107,444,697.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) followed with P52,174,919; Iloilo Provincial Police Office (PPO) with P49,035,232; Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with P24,059,589; Negros Occidental PPO with P21,420,732; Capiz PPO with P7,099,863; Antique PPO with P4,481,787; Aklan PPO with P1,982,077; and Guimaras PPO with P924,328.

As he previously declared, Wanky emphasized that PRO-6’s anti-illegal drug campaign will continue relentlessly as long as illegal drugs are present.

He also commended all unit commanders and personnel for their commitment and hard work, which contributed to these accomplishments.

“The statistics reflect our personnel’s conviction, patience, and eagerness to rid the community of the menace of illegal drugs,” Wanky said.

He also pledged to increase community engagement, involving local government units and other stakeholders to further intensify and strengthen the campaign.
