The Iloilo City Council, in a session on Wednesday, April 17, approved a P452-million supplemental budget for the city government.

The supplemental budget totals P452,741,288, covering both the general fund and the special accounts of the Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO).

City Budget Officer Viminale A. Capulso said this first supplemental budget for the year will primarily fund infrastructure services and City Hall’s operating expenses.

“We need to pass this supplemental budget due to new funding sources and to cover programs and projects previously unfunded in our annual budget, as past revenue estimates were conservative,” Capulso explained.

The funds, drawn from additional city revenue and savings, will bolster various initiatives.

The supplemental budget stipulates a P30 daily wage increase for Job Hires and Contracts of Service from P450 to P480, adhering to Wage Order No. RD6-27 that sets the minimum wage at P480, effective this July.

It also includes a P1,000 hike in regular employees’ clothing allowance to P7,000 and an update to the transportation allowances: Department Heads and City Council members will receive P19,000, up from P17,000, and Assistant Department Heads will get P17,000, increased from P15,000.

Additionally, funds are allocated for new roles in the Local Economic and Development Investment Promotions Office, the Data Assessment Systems Management Office, and the Personal Information and Payroll Systems Management Division within the mayor’s office.
