BACOLOD CITY – Police confiscated an estimated P736,150 worth of illegal drugs in two separate buy-bust operations conducted here on September 8 and 10.
The most recent operation took place in Barangay Singcang-Airport yesterday, leading to the arrest of a couple and their alleged accomplice.
Police Captain Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, identified the primary suspects as alias “Alog,” 42, and his live-in partner, alias “Niña,” 36.
Cayao said the couple and their 39-year-old companion from Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, were found in possession of suspected shabu valued at P372,000.
The couple had previously been arrested for drug-related offenses. The male suspect served his sentence, while the female suspect’s case was dismissed, Cayao added.
Cayao mentioned that the couple had been under police surveillance after authorities received information regarding Alog’s alleged illegal activities.
A day earlier, police arrested a former Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad, who was reportedly seen carrying a KG9 firearm in the same village, causing concern among residents on Monday.
During the arrest, police also confiscated a sachet of suspected shabu valued at P500, according to Cayao.
Cayao said charges for illegal possession of a firearm and drugs were filed against the suspect yesterday. The suspect had reportedly been planning to sell the firearm when he was caught.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, police apprehended a man and his alleged accomplice in Purok Fire, Barangay 8, on Sunday.
The suspects, identified as alias “Neil,” 46, of Barangay 8, and alias “Rean,” 25, of Barangay Taculing, were arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 6 (PDEG-SOU-6).
The older suspect, classified as a high-value individual, had been under police surveillance due to his suspected involvement in illegal activities.
Authorities seized 53 grams of suspected shabu valued at P360,400 and 2.5 grams of suspected marijuana, worth P3,750, from the two suspects.
The confiscated marijuana, identified as “kush,” is reportedly a high-grade variant, according to PDEG.
Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2, awaiting the filing of drug charges.
