ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Sannguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Capiz recently approved the P16.4-million supplemental budget requested by Gov Esteban Evan Contreras.
The budget includes P9.8 million for the rehabilitation of the provincial capitol roof that was destroyed by typhoon Ursula in December 2019.
Provincial Engineer Edgar Agana said the rehabilitation of the provincial capitol’s roofing was delayed because of the late approval of its design and plan by the National Historical Commission (NHC).
Considering that Capiz provincial capitol is a ‘historical landmark’, Agana said it needed approval by NHC before rehabilitation or any introduced development is made.
The provincial government also could not implement the project as the province was placed under community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
Meanwhile, another P5 million from the supplemental budget was allocated for the renovation of Bailan District Hospital Dormitory which is intended as quarantine facility of Capiz.
Other projects in the supplemental budget are the repair for the roofing of Capiz Rehabilitation Center (P750,000); repair of ESLA seedlings nursery (P376,000); and repair of the Provincial Treasurer’s office (P474,000).
