BACOLOD City – A father and his son died after their motorcycle crashed into a wing van truck parked at Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, town police chief, identified the victims as Francis Pangantihon, 23, and his father Francisco, 51.
Bermudez said the Pangantihons were on their way home around 2:30 a.m. when their motorcycle driven by Francis hit the rear part of the truck.
Bermudez said the truck has been parked in the area for quite some time now because the owner from Roxas, Capiz had a hard time retrieving it from the area due to a mechanical trouble.
“Ayawan sila pangita mekaniko na makakay o sa truck,” he added.
After what happened, Bermudez said the truck will be taken from the area after the owner searched for another mechanic.
Bermudez said they didn’t know how the accident happened. But he added that the area is dimly-lit.
“Wala ta kabalo kung nakainom sila, or dasig dalagan, pero medyo dulom na da abi,” he added.
Both victims were declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Bermudez said they could not yet tell if the truck owner had a liability in the accident, because the truck was properly parked in the area.
