A father and his son were found dead evening of April 12, 2023 in Numancia, Aklan.

Narciso Andelecio, 59, and Jay R Adelencio, 29, both residents of Barangay Bubog, Numancia, were found with gunshot wounds on their bodies.

Narciso sustained a gunshot wound on his left breast while Jay-R suffered two gunshot injuries on his back.

Master Sergeant Felizardo Navarra, Numancia police chief, said Narciso was in a supine position when found in a forested area in Barangay Camanci Sur, Numancia at around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Jay R, on the other hand, was found lying on his abdomen one meter away from his father.

It appeared that they have not sustained any defense wound.

Gemma Ginoy, Narciso’s daughter and Jay R’s sister, was the one who called up the police station to inform authorities that her loved ones were found dead near a mahogany plantation in Camanci Sur.

Investigation showed that the duo left home early morning of Wednesday to look for firewood at the nearby mahogany plantation.

“That was their means of livelihood – they gather and sell firewood,” Navarra said.

But their family got worried after they failed to go home by lunchtime.

By early evening, Jay-R’s live-in partner, Robelyn Idala, decided to look for them at the mahogany plantation.

It didn’t take long before their bodies were found.

Meanwhile, Navarra is not discounting the possibility that the suspects have been dead for hours when their bodies were discovered.

A resident, who lives around 100 meters from where the bodies were found, claimed to have heard four gunshots around 11:30 a.m. of the said day.

Navarra said they don’t have any person of interest yet.

The Adelencios had been into the firewood job for quite a while. They also asked the mahogany plantation’s owner for them to be allowed to gather firewood in the area.

“We haven’t established the possible motive behind the killing,” Navarra said.

He added they’re hoping to find witnesses who could shed light on what happened.
