PACV Certifies 84 Mediators, Advances ADR in Visayas

The Philippine Arbitration Center in the Visayas (PACV), based at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, has successfully endorsed 84 neutrals for recognition by the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR).

These mediators fulfilled the requirements for 1st Level Recognition in Mediation under OADR Memorandum Circular No. 2023-02.

The OADR issued Certificates of Recognition to the mediators, marking their inclusion in the OADR’s official roster of accredited Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioners.

The recognition is valid until the expiration of PACV’s accreditation or until revoked.

In a letter to PACV President Atty. Joenar Pueblo, Atty. Margaretraizza D. Andaman, Executive Director V of the OADR, commended PACV’s dedication to upholding rigorous ADR standards.

“This recognition reflects our confidence in the expertise of PACV’s mediators. Their skills will play a pivotal role in advancing the use of ADR as an effective tool for a swift and accessible justice system for all Filipinos,” the letter stated.

The recognized mediators are tasked with adhering to the “Statement of Principles for Accredited ADR Practitioners and Training Standards for ADR Practitioners,” ensuring their professional conduct meets national guidelines.

PACV’s achievement highlights its pivotal role in strengthening ADR services in the region, promoting efficient dispute resolution mechanisms outside the traditional court system.

The initiative is expected to expand access to justice, particularly in the Visayas.

The OADR’s Compliance and Monitoring Division will oversee the mediators during their accreditation period, ensuring consistent adherence to the prescribed standards.
